Today's Mailbox

Back with the mailbox fuzz! I finally got my camera back and in the meanwhile I got some great books, above all is of course Keita Amemiya's Kiba.
Today I got six books: Okamax is Okama's first book, I got the scans and fell in love with his style, where erotic and naive themes blend, he's one of the few "big big eyes" Japanese artists I like.
Virtua Fighter Ten Stories is Katsuya Terada's comic book on VF, I got it just to complete my Terada bookshelf and I usually adore the composition of the tables in his comics, Saiyukiden is another planet anyway, hope to see vol.2 soon...
Phantom Core, the only Nirasawa book I missed except the very old Fantastic Creature World. This is Phancure's story, I like Nirasawa's sculptures more than his drawings but this little books rocks!
D.D.D. vol.1, Eisaku Kito page features a wonderful model of a mecha, and there are around ten pages of illustrations by Ryuichiro Kutsuzawa, alias my new obsession with Japanese artists.
C.D.B. is Character Design Bible and features articles and making of various artists, this issue has a lot of design of monsters by Takayuki Takeya so it's cool.
The last one is Kazuhisa Kondo's Go Ahead. Kondo designs look like those of a kid if compared to the old designs by Kobayashi, anyway he made some great mechas such as the Breda and the Latch Bum so I was curious to see more of his original works.

I also got some resin figures last week, and some modelling tools and putty, I'm going to start doing some models and attempt some sculpting next week, just in time with the winter holidays... Hear ya soon!

Gebler

I haven't got back my camera yet, and, as usual, I'm waiting for packages to arrive from Japan, this time it's books and models, I hope I can take some pictures when they arrive.
Well, today I took out of my shelves the pieces for the Gebler project, a big kitbash I started planning last year and keeps evolving very slowly since then.
Gebler was born as an "imitation model" from Kobayashi's Advanced Shape Wars' ones, I bought some Gundam kits and a Knight of Gold from FSS to do something similar.
So I needed a strong military look, and yet do it with a hint of organic appearences, as usual, projects were doomed by my habit of changing them rapidly and so Gebler got a more Z.O.E.ish appearance, with feetless legs and flight designed elements.
And now, what has become of Gebler?
Well, its progress is still, obviously, but has reached a steady status of a cyborg-like giant mecha, something like Neo Shaian in Dragon's Heaven.
In fact, I'm keeping a vynil Iria's cloak for this model, along with other parts took from Dunbine's action figures and many plastic and resin kits. I think I'm going to try and recast some parts from Cambria and Neo Shaian for this one, and then add some 1/35 figures around.

Now some pictures, the first one is a couple of early sketches of the big G, one for the arm and one for the Z.o.e.y version, then two other sketches, with the bigger, fuzzy one to represent the cloaked mecha and then the last shot I could take of his head, today I got a little further but not very much.

Bye, TF

Miscellaneous Talk

Well, my camera is under maintenance, so I can't take pictures of today's mailbox, made of two other SMH issues (7 and 10), issue 2 of Character Design Bible and Lemni 3003 first issue.
I'm still missing 6 issues of SMH but I should get issue 18 in a couple of weeks.
What's leaving me speechless in any SMH issue I get is the work of Kenji Ando, the composition of his figures and the other elements are in some way "graphic", perfectly balanced and wonderfully made...
I really didn't know he was this good...
He'll surely be a great inspiration as soon as I start modelling again; right now I'm into university exams and other things, so I may start doing something around mid october, in the meantime, I'm waiting to get some models, old plastic kits to kitbash and some resin models I pre ordered.

Sazabi's painting is stopped, so, just to upload some images, here are some past pictures of it...

Today's Mailbox

Today I got four new books, Ma.k in B.D. was the only modern Ma.k book I was missing, I like Yokoyama's painting technique for illustrations, sometimes he reminds me of the latest Ashley Wood, and obviously SF3d setting make it really tasty...
Undead Green Blood is Yasushi Nirasawa's latest book, made of character design for a Kamen Rider series of villains, I think that Nira shifted to a poppier style in the last years, I got this book only for my illustration job and not as a modelling resource.
Then, SIC Hero Saga, Takayuki Takeya and Kenji Ando dioramas for the SIC series, some of them are really incredible, and finally, Red Mausoleum by Keita Amemiya, his comics were great, filled with weird characters and strange settings.
And now, I'm angry because I lost an auction for Amemiya's Kiba artbook, but maybe it's time to get some new models and stop buying books for a while...

Today's Mailbox

I am waiting for a bunch of books, today I got some of them, two issues of SMH, an issue of DDD and Nira Works.
Issue 2 of SMH has a little article about Eisaku Kito and I really like his works, and the DDD is the first one I ever see and it was a great magazine too...
Nira Works is undescribable, it's big, filled with wonderful pictures of Nirasawa models, I'm really glad to have it on my bookshelf now...

Sazabi Mass. Mod. (part1)

I had a flickr about my modelling works, but I deleted it, so I guess that someday I'll make a post to present you the working on this 1/220 Kondo's Sazabi. I'm working on it since november, pretty slowly indeed.
Today it's rainy here, and to pass some time I started to paint it.

I'm doing it quite random, it's the first model I do with airbrush and I'm trying to mask the fact that I'm unable at it with lots of weathering marks and inks. But I like it.
It's going to be a mostly organic look coloring, since my main inspirations for models are Makoto Kobayashi and others.

Here it goes, hope you like it...

Let's Go! TF Youth!

Just to start this blog, here's a little presentation.

This will be a modest blog about my experience in the field of mecha modelling and other related things.

I'm a follower of Katsuya Terada, Makoto Kobayashi, Kow Yokoyama, Takayuki Takeya, Yasushi Nirasawa, Kenji Ando, Eisaku Kito, Takahiro Yamada and other great sculptors and modellers, just stay tuned if you too like them, I'm a newcomer with these things but they already inspired me a lot.

In the following days I'll post pictures of my models, my artbooks and other stupid things...

Bye!
